The building was built by the Oakford family in 1954 as a dance hall with a 4 lane bowling alley and pool hall downstairs. In 1969 the upstairs became Oakford's Hardware Store. In the late 90's the hardware store closed and it was briefly converted into a church, and then sat empty for a few years until Craig and Lori Hewitt purchased it in 2020. In 2022 renovations were complete and The Outpost was opened September 18. The bowling alley and a games room downstairs opened January 2023.
Make sure you have lots of time to browse the aisles as we have thousands of unique, vintage, eclectic, original and reproduction, new and previously owned items to choose from. We carry petroliana, signs, clocks, neon, decor, barware, giftware, garden items, furniture, collectibles, tobacco collectibles, and much much more. There literally something for everyone.
Sorry we do not offer online purchasing or consignments. Please refer to the purchasing section for further details.
Check out the 4 lane, 5 pin bowling alley in the basement. It is the original wood lanes from 1954, superbly refinished. You will also find a couple pool tables, and retro and new arcade games as well as pinball machines. Check out FatboysBowling.com for details
